The growing interest in solar farms finds Kankakee County getting onboard. The County Board (Tuesday) gave the green light for up to nine locations where solar farms could locate. Each of the nine sites range from a dozen to 20 acres; each are considered by zoning officials as suitable for solar farm operations.

A California company (Cypress Creek) has shown interest in a solar farm operation in the Bonfield area. Cypress Creek currently operates 150 solar power plants across the United States.
