There were a handful of contested races in Kankakee County yesterday with incumbents faring well among them.

Bourbonnais was the one place where all the incumbents were voted out. Long-time music store owner Randy King was swept onto the village board along with challengers Jeff Keast and Jack Littrell. Incumbents Scott Byrne and Wayne Baranowski were defeated.

In the race for Kankakee City council, David Crawford beat Theodis Pace in the race to fill the vacant seat in the Third ward. Incumbent sixth ward alderman Dennis Baron easily defeated Tom Ivy Senior in the city's only other race.

Two of three incumbents will return to the Bradley Village board. Democratic board members Lori Gadbois and Jerry Balthazor easily won re-election while Mike Watson edged George Golwitzer to become the newest village trustee.

In school board races, incumbents had a pretty good night. For Kankakee school district 111 two incumbents won re-election while Angela Shea got the most votes to oust Dana Washington.

Two incumbents in Manteno held off a challenge from three challengers to the school board. While in Bourbonnais Elementary School District #53 Michael Jurka will be joining the incumbents. Jurka will be replacing Tim Butterfield who chose not to run again after 12 years on the board.

Park District races in Kankakee County got a lot of attention leading up to the election.

The Bourbonnais township Park District will see a few new faces. Incumbent Kim Bennett won re-election and will be joined on the board by newcomer Clark Gregorie. Anthony Settle ran unopposed to fulfill an unexpired term left vacant by John Betts who moved out of the district.
