Condolences are being received at the Kankakee County Sheriff department after a veteran deputy died unexpectedly Wednesday. 35-year-old Zeb Pheiffer suffered a heart attack while working out at his home. He was a 17-year veteran of the department. Pheiffer first joined the department as a correctional officer in 1998. He also worked in the Violent Crimes Task Force.

Funeral arrangements are pending.
