Kankakee County Treasurer Nick Allen reports real estate tax bills should be arriving at homes. The statements were expected to be in the mail Friday.
The first installment is due on June 22 and the second is due on Sept. 1. Allen is reminding people of the various payment options available.
Online payment is available at KankakeeCountyTreasurer.com for a $1 fee for e-check and 2.3 percent for credit or debit cards. Most local banks and some credit unions also accept payments by check, money order or cash.
Payment is accepted in person at the Kankakee County Treasurer's office in Kankakee from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm Monday through Wednesday and on Friday. The office is closed on Thursdays. There also is a 24-hour drop box for payments on the northeast corner of the building in the drive thru lane.
