Kankakee County to name administrative building after former sheriff

Former Kankakee County Sheriff Tim Bukowski is on the verge of being honored. The County Board today (Tuesday) approved a resolution, naming the sheriff’s administration building in his honor. An official dedication ceremony will be planned in the future.

Tim Bukowski served Kankakee County as sheriff from 1996-2016.

The county board’s highway and buildings committee unanimously recommended the name change.

Board Chairman Andy Wheeler said Bukowski was instrumental in the efforts and planning to build the sheriff’s complex. Wheeler said the culture in the sheriff’s department was developed under Bukowski’s watch. The board’s resolution cites Bukowski’s accomplishments.
