Clean-up is underway at Milliopore in Kankakee after a chemical leak this (Thurs) morning. Kankakee Fire answered a call at 4 am to 195 W. Birch. The building workers had evacuated when firemen arrived. Chemical fumes from an inadvertent mixture of acid and chlorine caused issues during a cleaning of processing equipment.
Crews were on the scene about 2 ½ hours to ventilate the building. There were no injuries or other problems reported in the neighborhood.
