Moderate damage was reported after a residential fire in Kankakee this (Tues) morning. Firemen answered the call at 6:40 am to the 600-block of S. Nelson. The sole occupant of the house was evaluated for smoke inhalation, but refused treatment. Fire Chief Damon Schuldt reported the cause is under investigation. The fire appeared to be accidental.

Damage estimates ranged from $10,000 to near $20,000 in a residential fire in the 500-block of N. Industrial Drive in Kankakee. Firemen answered the call Sunday afternoon around 5 pm. Chief Schuldt reports the house appeared to be vacant. The fire was put out quickly. No injury. The cause is under investigation.
