Several area volunteers are cleaning up the Kankakee and Iroquois rivers today (Sat).
The 32nd annual Kankakee and Iroquois River Clean-Up will focus on different parts of the rivers as they remove litter and junk. They'll work from the Wilmington area in Will County to the Indiana state line.
Volunteers need to register in advance. Several businesses are sponsoring the event which runs from 8 am until about Noon.
Groups and individuals can launch from any of several sites including the Aroma Park boat launch, Island Park in Momence, the boat launch at either Beckman Park or Bird Park in Kankakee, Shamrock Golf Course, Sportsman's Club, or the Concession stand at Kankakee River State Park.
