The Kankakee County Coroner’s Office identifies the victim as Darrell Spears of Kankakee. He died of injuries after emergency responders found him on S. Dearborn Avenue. Police were alerted of shots fired in the 500 block of South Indiana Avenue about 4:30 pm. The injured man was found by officers when notified about a man being down in an alley on Dearborn Avenue. An autopsy is planned.
