Thursday afternoon shooting leaves 26-year-old dead

Kankakee City Police are investigating a Thursday afternoon shooting that left a man dead. No arrests were immediately announced. Police are using CrimeStoppers to ask anyone with info to contact authorities.

The shooting happened this afternoon at a residence on the corner of Birch Street and Harrison Avenue.26-year-old DeArrion Harris was pronounced dead just after 1 pm. He was shot multiple times.
Harris is the city's 5th murder victim this year and 10th in the county.

Kankakee County Coroner Bob Gessner said an autopsy is scheduled for Friday.
