Kankakee Police were called to a shooting just after noon Friday. A man was taken into custody by police outside of the Kankakee Food and Discount store on E. Court Street.

No word whether it was related, but shots were reportedly fired a block away, near the intersection of North Evergreen Avenue and East Oak Street. Investigators did find spent-45-caliber shell casings in the 200 block of North Evergreen Avenue.
