A Thursday morning fire on N. Harrison Avenue in Kankakee did extensive damage to a building. And then – the body of a man was found in a vehicle that was inside the burning building.

It’s now a homicide investigation. County Coroner Bob Gessner identifies the man as 23-year-old Anthony Spitcic of Manteno. He was found shot to death in the driver’s seat of the vehicle parked inside the building at 433 N. Harrison Avenue.

An autopsy was completed.

Kankakee Fire answered the call at 5:15 am. Mutual aid came from area fire departments in both Kankakee and Will County.
