A Kankakee high school teacher has been arrested for criminal sexual assault. 42-year-old Stephen DiSanto is awaiting formal charges for alleged inappropriate sexual conduct with a 17-year-old student at Kankakee High School.

DiSanto was arrested Tuesday evening at his home.

It was on April 13th when the Kankakee Police Department was made aware of a possible incident between a teacher and a 17-year-old student at Kankakee High School. The Department of Children & Family Services, School District 111 and the Kankakee County State's Attorney's Office were involved in a week-long investigation. During the investigation, evidence was gathered from electronic devices, including computers and cell phones.

Police are waiting for further evidence.
