Kankakee: Train hits, kills woman Tuesday

Three railroad crossings in Kankakee were closed for some three hours Tuesday morning while emergency personnel investigated a fatal train-pedestrian incident.  A southbound Canadian National freight hit  a woman along Kensington Avenue.  It happened about 6:30 am in the 2200-block.  The train was stopped for the investigation.  The train was rolling and the crossings reopened around 9 am.

An unidentified woman was killed.   The CN Railway Police, Kankakee Fire and the County Coroner's Office were involved with the investigation, according to a city police news release.
