Saturday (July 27th) marked the 60th anniversary of the end of the Korean War – often considered the forgotten war. Local Veterans gathered and reflected on the occasion.
The Korean War Memorial in Danville lists 36 names, which includes eight missing in action. The memorial is displayed on North Hazel Street in Danville.
Illinois Route 1 is recognized as the Korean War Highway, legislation that was sponsored by former State Representative Bill Black of Danville.
Korean War weapons, uniforms and other mementos are on display at the Vermilion County War Museum in Danville.
