Labor Day traditions continue this weekend in area communities.  Herscher and Hoopeston offer festivities.

The 96th Labor Day Celebration at Herscher includes one of the largest parades.  Monday's parade steps off at 10:30 in the morning.  World War II veterans will serve as grand marshals.  The three-day event runs from noon September 3 thru September 5 at 8 pm.

In Hoopeston, the National Sweet Corn Festival & Pageant is set for the weekend.  It's the 73rd  Sweet Corn Festival, beginning Thursday.  A pro rodeo is a new event this year. Most events are centerd at McFerren Park.

Hoopeston's Grand Parade is Saturday morning at 10:30.
