Labor Day Parade accidents, injuries reported

Authorities in Westville reported a vehicle which apparently went out of control along the Labor Day Parade route left several pedestrians hurt. It happened downtown at the intersection of State and Main Streets.
Thousands had gathered to watch the parade. Police said an eastbound vehicle went out of control, running into a section of the crowd. Nine people were brought to a Danville hospital for treatment. The injured include 5 adults and 4 children. None of the injuries were life-threatening.
Fire and ambulance personnel who were also at the front of the parade responded to aid the injured.

Hoopeston Parade mishap

An unidentified female was treated for an injury when she was run over by a vehicle as the Hoopeston parade was about to get started Saturday. The driver of one of the parade entries...A 1932 Roadster...exited the vehicle while waiting for the parade to step off. A pedestrian stepped behind the vehicle to get her picture taken when the Roadster rolled backwards. The female was knocked to the ground and rolled over.
