Gasoline prices continue to fall in Illinois. According to AAA Illinois, the average price of a gallon of gas in Illinois is $3.68, about 36 cents lower than a month ago. The cheapest gas is in Effingham County at $3.04 a gallon, while the most expensive is in Cook County at $3.93 a gallon. The national average for a gallon of gasoline is $3.35.
The lower price for fuel is encouraging more travel plans for the Labor Day weekend.
