A tanker truck crash that resulted in the deaths of five people now has an Illinois lawmaker wanting accountablity by the Illinois Department of Transportation. Represenative Adam Niemerg says efforts to get IDOT to address the situation have been unsuccessful. A September 29th crash killed five people in Effingham County. A tanker-truck carrying hazardous chemicals left a highway and released the chemicals into the air. Five people died from ammonia exposure and the town of Teutopolis was evacuated. Niemerg says the construction zone on Interstate 70 is promoting some motorists to use other roads. The National Transportation Safety Board continues to investigate the incident.
