Letter carriers' food drive is Saturday

You can help reduce hunger in your community this Saturday. The National Association of Letter Carriers will hold its annual Stamp Out Hunger food drive.

You're asked to leave non-perishable food in a sturdy bag by your mailbox. Your letter carrier will pick it up and get it to the Eastern Illinois Foodbank or a local food pantry in your county.

Letter carriers are participating throughout East Central Illinois.

This food drive was first started in 1992. Last year, it brought in 74.4 million pounds of food across the country, bringing the total food collected for all years this event has taken place to 1.3 billion pounds.
