Joseph Lightfoot will not continue as KCC men’s basketball coach, effective June 30, 2012. The college will conduct a search for his replacement. Until a new coach is named, Ted Petersen, KCC’s athletic director, will serve as interim manager.
A press release issued by the school's marketing and public relations office states:
“KCC remains committed to the future of the Cavaliers men’s basketball program,” said Dr. John Avendano, KCC president. “Consistent with our institutional philosophy, the academic and athletic success of our student athletes takes precedence. The college is committed to the success of all of our students, and helps them reach their educational and personal goals. Moreover, the college is dedicated to providing education, job skills training, and learning opportunities for all residents of our communities.”
Lightfoot has been employed by KCC since 1997 and served as assistant men’s basketball coach from 1997 to 2006 and head men’s basketball coach 2006 to 2012.
