Educational leaders, business owners and those in Human Resource positions are invited to a ‘Lunch & Learn’ event. It’s Wednesday (Jan 25) at the Unit Nine School District Office in Watseka. Lunch and a brainstorming session will find the Iroquois County Regional Delivery System (IARDS) and the Iroquois Economic Development Association partnering to give students a work-connection.
The idea is to create a regional Career+ ecosystem.
Jeff Bryan, Director of the Iroquois Regional Delivery System, works for the good of all the county school districts. Bryan explains ‘Career+ is an opportunity for students to reach into the local business community, students can about local in-demand gateway jobs with employer-funded tuition assistance programs.
Bryan is working with Angel Crawford of the Economic Development Association and Jeff Botteron, who directs a K-12 & Workforce Initiative at Skyepack –in the Greater Lafayette Commerce. Community colleges also play a big role. The community college part is a connection to meet a growing demand for skilled employees in the advanced manufacturing, logistics, healthcare and technology industries.
