A man is dead following a standoff with police in Rantoul. A man believed to have robbed a local Hardee's restaurant barricaded himself inside a Days Inn Hotel early yesterday morning. Hours later, police say officers shot gas into the room after the man threatened to harm himself and others. The standoff ended with a Champaign officer shooting the man, who died later in the hospital.
