25-year-old Tyler Nagel was found guilty of aggravated arson, AGGRAVATED-stalking, 2-counts of violating an order of protection, and criminal damage to property in Kankakee County Court Monday. He faces 6 – 30 years in prison when sentenced later.
State’s Attorney Jim Rowe said all five charges against Nagel stem from a July 2018 incident. Nagel set fire to his ex-girlfriend’s family home – while the family was present.
The felony counts and the verdict, Rowe said, is the result of long hours and investigative work by Manteno Fire, Manteno Police and MABAS 7 and Kankakee County Sheriff investigators. Rowe said the first-responders and Prosecutors all played key roles in developing a strong case against the defendant.
