32-year-old Ryan McBride of Manteno died early Monday after crashing his motorcycle on Illinois Route 50. Illinois State Police report McBride’s southbound Harley-Davidson left the highway near Kankakee County Road 6000 N and hit a pole. Kankakee County Coroner Bob Gessner said McBride was not wearing a helmet. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 12:30 am. An autopsy is scheduled.

Crash near Manteno leads to arrest of Texas woman

District 21 State Police investigated a crash on U.S. Route 45/52 west of Manteno that led to a search for the woman operating the car and ended with her arrest. This was last Thursday. It involved a semi-trailer and a Jeep at Kankakee County Road 7600 N.

Laura A. Myers of Lewisville, Texas was arrested. Her bond was set at $50,000. The charge was failure to report an accident involving injury. She was also found to be wanted on a warrant out of Texas – for abandoning and endangering a child. Law enforcement used a drone and K9 unit in their efforts to find Myers lying in a ditch near Manteno. It was during the search, investigators learned Myers' identity and she was wanted on a warrant out of Texas.

Fatal Car Accident in Channahon

Will County Sheriff’s Police are investigating the traffic death of 21 year old Jason Frost of Channahon. He died Saturday night after the vehicle he was driving struck a tree. Witnesses who saw the vehicle shortly before the accident said he was going at a high rate of speed and may have had some trouble with the steering. The accident happened shortly before 6pm.
