Manteno Patrolman Jason Forbes was honored (Monday) at the Manteno Village Board meeting. Forbes was recognized for his actions last month (Nov 21, 2015) responding to an apartment fire on Raven Drive.

A Commendation Letter read during the meeting documented how Patrolman Forbes entered the smoke-filled apartment building, waking residents to get them evacuated and locating the fire.

The information was relayed to the Manteno Fire Department. Forbes' action, it was noted, saved lives.

Police Sgt. Brian Lockwood recommended a letter of commendation to Chief Bernie Thompson.

Patrolman Forbes was honored with his children in attendance at the meeting.
