A vacant house in Martinton was destroyed by fire early Saturday. Six area departments answered a call to assist Martinton firemen. No one was injured. The older-house was being renovated. Officials report the fire did not appear to be suspicious. The cause was under investigation.

Beaverville, Papineau, Donovan, Ashkum, Chebanse Township, and Aroma Park provided mutiual aid, according to Martinton Fire Chief Jeff Meyer.
