Livingston County Sheriff marty Meredith is hoping a meeting next week with state officials will kick-start his plan to reopen a part of the women's prison at Dwight.
The sheriff's plan is to use a portion of the prison grounds to house county jail inmates from neighboring counties and federal inmates. Meredith says up to 40 jobs could be created.
A July 18th meeting is scheduled with state officials and members of the Livingston County Board.
