Damage estimates are pegged at $20 - $30,000 following a single-story house fire in Milford Sunday evening. The cold weather didn’t help Milford and Stockland firefighters at 309 Axtel Street. Fire personnel were at the scene about four hours. No one was injured. The family of Daniel & Stephanie Geren are taking up residency elsewhere.
Milford Fire Chief Frank Hines believes the use of space heaters over-charged the electrical system. The fire’s origin was in the back of the house. Fire personnel had to vent the structure thru the roof. Chief Hines issues a warning about the use of space heaters, never use extension cords – only plug such heaters directly into the wall outlet.
