Milford man pleads not guilty to murder

In Iroquois Circuit Court, 52-year-old Danny Murphy pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder charges in connection with the beating death of another Milford man.

Murphy remains jailed on a $1 million bond. He's charged with two counts of first-degree murder. Murphy was indicted by an Iroquois County grand jury on May 6.

Court records show Murphy is alleged to have caused fatal injuries to 48-year-old David Garrett during an altercation at a Milford home April 7. Murphy allegedly beat Garrett in the head and face, causing his death. At the time, Murphy was on parole for robbery and false impersonation of a police officer.
