A 29-year-old Man who’s accused of throwing a tomahawk at an arresting Iroquois County officer will stand trial for attempted murder.

Kevin Funk is accused of throwing the tomahawk at the arresting officer last year. The deputy was serving a warrant in rural milford to arrest Funk for predatory criminal sexual assault of a child.

The court ordered a mental competency exam last November. In April, it was determined Fund is fit to stand trial. He’s charged with attempted murder of the officer and the sexual assault offense.

Sheriff investigator Clint Perzee suffered a broken arm and a laceration to his arm. He underwent surgery and is back on the job.
