Milford man ruled unfit for trial

An Iroquois County judge has declared a Milford man accused of throwing a tomahawk at an Iroquois County sheriff's deputy unfit to stand trial.

Judge James Kinzer ordered Kevin Funk be placed in the custody of the Illinois Department of Human Services until he is able to regain his fitness. The judge reviewed results of a psychological evaluation of the suspect.

Authorities say Funk threw the tomahawk deputy Clint Perzee in August. Police were preparing to arrest Funk on charges of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child. He pleaded not guilty in September to multiple charges including attempted murder and aggravated battery to a peace officer.

Funk is also charged with predatory criminal sexual assault and aggravated criminal sexual abuse in a separate case.
