Christopher Burton charged with 1st-degree murder in fatal fire case
Circuit Judge Michael Sabol ordered the Milford man charged with murder to be held in custody while his case moves thru the court process. 53-yar-old Christopher Burton faces 4-counts of 1st-degree murder in last October’s death of Ashley Tucker in the fatal house fire in Milford.
Judge Sabol’s ruling is pursuant to requirements of the Illinois SAFE-T Act. Assistant Iroquois County State’s Attorney Jennifer Mansberger represented the State in Monday’s detention hearing.
Burton is accused of having intentionally started the house fire October 16 (2025) that led to the fatal injuries and Ms. Tucker’s death. Iroquois County Sheriff’s Police arrested Burton February 27 on a warrant. Investigators conducted an exhaustive, several months investigation that included the State Fire Marshal’s Office. The investigation remains active.
