CORRECTION > The Milford School District #124 votes to go with a 'mask-required' policy.
School board members (Monday) put its mask-required policy in place as a new school year is underway. Superintendent Dr. Michele Lindenmeyer explained the board's 4-2 vote to require masks be worn includes allowing breaks for students when needed and where safe.
Discussion early on centered on Governor J.B. Pritzker's mask mandate and potential repercussions if the rules wasn't followed. The Milford Board talked about a transition plan making masks optional for the students. But that vote failed on a 3-3 tie vote. The amended 'mask-required' plan was then approved 4-2. Sup't Lindenmeyer added, the local rule will remain until state guidance changes.
