Milford, Watseka celebrate 2017 Homecoming activities

Community spirit is energized in Milford and Watseka this weekend. High school activities are part of the two school district’s homecoming events.

Traditional prep football games are included in the list of events in the respective towns. Oakwood visits Milford for the homecoming football game. Watseka plays host to Dwight High School. The games are scheduled for 7 pm.

Homecoming activities are being held all week long.

Homecoming royalty will be crowned and each community has competitive events to broaden the homecoming spirits.
Also in Watseka --- the WCHS Inspiration Awards will recognize past students and athletes for their accomplishments.

The WCHS Alumni Association will honor this year’s award recipients at the annual banquet Saturday.

Award recipients include: Dale Flach, 1954; Robert Strickler from the 1956 class; Hannah Garry from the class of 1991. Brad Odgers from the class of 1995 is an Athletic Inspiration Award winner, along with the 1986-87 and 1987-88 boys basketball teams.

The two basketball teams will be recognized during the Watseka Holiday Basketball Tournament in December, according to Association spokesman Kerry Bell.
