That alleged leader of an Illinois anti-government militia group is back in the news again. This time, Emily Claire Hari…previously known as Michael Hari… who now says SHE’s transgender, was sentenced to 53 years in federal prison. Hari’s militia group was based in Ford County.

Prosecutors say Hari was the master-mind of a 2017 bombing of a Minnesota mosque. The prison sentence was for the attack on the mosque.

Hari was facing a mandatory minimum 30 years in prison for the attack. The defense was asking the court for the minimum, but the prosecution wanted life – saying Hari has not taken responsibility for his actions.  Hari and two other defendants are also charged with the November 2017 attack on an abortion clinic in Champaign.

There were plea agreements for the two other subjects. Prosecutors also claimed the men participated in a home invasion in Indiana. And there were also attempted armed robberies of two Wal-Mart stores in Illinois.
