A rural Momence man was killed yesterday (Wed) when he apparently was a victim to a falling tree. The Kankakee County Coroner’s Office reports, 68-year-old Peter Chapin was clearing brush on land in rural Grant Park for the past few days. When he didn’t return home last evening, neighbors began a search for him. A man farming a nearby field discovered Chapin under some branches of a tree. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
