A wind chill advisory remains in effect this (Monday) morning. The NWS issued the advisory for Sunday thru at least noon today. Iroquois and Ford counties are part of the advisory.
BRISK NORTHWEST WINDS HAVE PRODUCED BITTERLY COLD WIND CHILL VALUES OF 15 BELOW TO 25 BELOW ZERO OVERNIGHT (Sunday) INTO THIS MONDAY MORNING.
WIND CHILLS AT THIS LEVEL CAN RESULT IN FROSTBITE ON EXPOSED SKIN IN AS LITTLE AS 30 MINUTES. PEOPLE WHO MUST BE OUTDOORS NEED TO HAVE SUFFICIENT PROTECTION IN ORDER TO AVOID FROSTBITE OR HYPOTHERMIA.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
A WIND CHILL ADVISORY MEANS THAT VERY COLD AIR AND STRONG WINDS WILL COMBINE TO GENERATE LOW WIND CHILLS. THIS WILL RESULT IN FROST BITE AND LEAD TO HYPOTHERMIA IF PRECAUTIONS ARE NOT TAKEN. IF YOU MUST VENTURE OUTDOORS...MAKE SURE YOU WEAR A HAT AND GLOVES.
