**  Cooling Centers assistance  **

Emergency management officials are asking community leaders to be pro-active in dealing with this week’s hot, humid temperatures. Community Cooling Centers need to be available for citizens in need of escaping from the heat.

County offices ,village halls, churches, school buildings, Red Cross offices are among the facilities that could serve as a Cooling Center, at least during business hours.

Officials in charge of such buildings are encouraged to coordinate with local emergency management agency offices and the media to inform the public that such facilities are open and available.

The National Weather Service is urging people to take the necessary precautions this week to stay safe with the expected hot temperatures.

Afternoon high temperatures are expected to climb into the upper 80's to lower 90's this (Tuesday) afternoon with heat index values around 100.

Highs from Wednesday through Friday will rise to between 90 and 95 degrees with heat index values of 100 to 105.

Winds are not expected to offer much relief as wind speeds will be less than 10 miles per hour across most of the area through Friday morning.

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air conditioned room, and check up on relatives and neighbors.

Children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles.
