The Illinois Department of Transportation reports scattered slick spots on many highways and roads. Motorists are urged to use caution. IDOT maps indicate roads are snow or ice-covered for areas along I-57, I-55 and U-S 41 and I-65 in Indiana.
More snow showers are possible for later Monday afternoon. The high will be 26 degrees with wind chill values between 4 and 14 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.
Warmer temperatures are in the forecast for Tuesday, with sunny skies and a high of 31 degrees. The temperatures are expected to finally rise above the freezing mark on Wednesday, when the high reaches 38 degrees.
