Two people are dead and two others injured following a fiery two-vehicle collision Thursday night near Oakwood. The crash closed eastbound I-74 for six hours. Traffic was detoured to Route 49.

The victims killed included a woman and a juvenile male. They were passengers in a car rear-ended by a pickup. The two drivers were taken to area hospitals.

Illinois State Police report it was about 7:30 pm when the car, disabled due to a flat tire, was hit from behind by the pickup. Both vehicles caught fire.
