— A two-vehicle accident in rural Gibson City Tuesday evening claimed the lives of a 43-year-old woman and her 6-year-old daughter. A second child was hospitalized with serious injuries.
43-year-old Cathy Kaiser and her daughter were the victims. Mrs. Kaiser died at the scene. The un-identified six-year-old was pronounced dead at Gibson Area Hospital.
Ford County Coroner Doug Wallace reports the accident occurred around 5 p.m.four miles southwest of Gibson City at the intersection of Ford County roads 200 North and 100 East. Wallace said.
Wallace said a car driven by Cathy Kaiser was northbound on County Road 100 East when it collided with a westbound car in the intersection. The car occupied by Mrs. Kaiser's two young daughters, landed on its top in a water-filled ditch.
Another daughter of Mrs. Kaiser, whose name was also not released, was airlifted to Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana. Wallace said the child was seriously injured. .
Autopsies were scheduled today (Wednesday) on Mrs. Kaiser and the 6-year-old.
A State police reconstruction team is investigating. Wallacee said it appears one of the vehicles "T-boned" the other in the intersection, which has yield signs for north-south traffic.
Ford County sheriff's office, Gibson City Fire Protection District and Gibson Area Ambulance Service also answered the call.
