Illinois Governor JB Pritzker has declared May as Motorcycle Awareness Month in the state. The proclamation is in collaboration with the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT), Illinois State Police (ISP), and motorcycle safety advocates who aim to raise awareness for all road users to "Start Seeing Motorcycles."
The aim of the campaign is to highlight the importance of sharing the road, slowing down, and being aware of surroundings to save lives during the coming months. The Start Seeing Motorcycles campaign coincides with warmer weather and more motorcyclists on the roads.
Start Seeing Motorcycles is a collaborative effort among IDOT, ISP, ABATE, and other organizations promoting motorcycle education, awareness, and safety. For more information on IDOT's free motorcycle training and safety programs, visit startseeingmotorcycles.org.
