Motorcyclist dies in Newton County crash

A Newton County, Indiana died Sunday after his motorcycle collided with a deer.

45-year-old Carl Rutledge was southbound on County Road 400 W when he hit a deer and was thrown from his motorcycle. Newton County Sheriff deputies investigated about 9 am.

The victim was found unresponsive and was not wearing a helmet.

Rutledge was taken to Riverside Hospital where he later died from his injuries.

Police said the route was shut down just north of CR 275 S until around 11 am.
