There's only been one report, but Illinois State Police confirm an investigation is underway concerning a police impersonator at work.

The lone report happened on I-57 in the Matteson area.

District 21 Master Sgt. Cynthia Hodge said the report is under investigation.

A motorist was stopped by fake police officers driving a Chevy Tahoe, equipped with emergency lights. The motorist reportedly surrendered a driver's license and $100 in cash to the fake officers who then drove away.
