It's the first-ever Business of the Year Award from the Kentland Chamber of Commerce. And Murphy's Food King, a local grocer Kentland and the community rely on, was named the winner at the Kentland Chamber's annual banquet Wednesday evening. Colleen Murphy-Clifton said it'as an honor to get the recognition. She said "it's always about customer service and so many small towns have struggled to keep a local grocery store open...so with the help of our great people here, we strive for customer satisfaction."
Murphy's is celebrating its 75th anniversary this year. Colleen is a third-generation Murphy operating the store.
A Newton County Court Security Officer, Greg Hamilton, received the Citizen of the Year Award. He's always giving in the community and is active with the Kentland Park Board.
Curt Puetz of Fowler is this year's Hall of Fame inductee. He's always striving to make a difference in the community.
