NAACP hosts Senate candidates

Democrats vying for the Illinois State Senate 40th District seat answered questions and presented their views on issues important to area voters last (Monday) evening. The Kankakee Chapter of the NAACP welcomed the candidates at a forum at the Kankakee Public Library.

Current Sen. Patrick Joyce, Marta Perales and Monica Gordon, fielded questions from a panel of local leaders. Candidate Lori Wilcox was absent due to illness. Local NAACP President Theodis Pace was pleased with the program. He urged voters to get out and support the candidate of their choice at the March Primary Election.

The panel included members of the business and education community and the media. Issues discussed economic development, property tax relief, government consolidation, school funding and the third Chicagoland airport at Peotone.
