The people who answer the calls when tragedy hits are being recognized today. It's National First Respnders Day. The U.S. Department of Commerce reports 4.6 million people serve as first responders, ranging from career professional to part-time volunteers. Police, firefighters, paramedics and communication dispatchers are the among the heroes who respond in times of crisis to protect others. Often times, these first responders are putting their lives at risk to keep us safe.
It seems most appropriate to honor the brave action, courage, and dedication extended by first responders in saving us from harm's way and protecting our communities.
