Ms. Dubble appointed to INENA/ILAPCO legislative committee
The Illinois Public Safety Telecommunications Association annual conference was held from October 19th to 22nd in Springfield. This conference is a joint conference between the Illinois National Emergency Number Association (NENA) and the Illinois Association of Public Safety Communications Officials (APCO).
During this conference the Illinois NENA presents the INENA Thank You Awards. These awards are given to INENA members through a nomination process by their peers.
The award committee then selects the recipients. The awards are then presented on the evening of the banquet while at the conference.
This year, Nita Dubble from Iroquois County was selected as one of the recipients.
Nita was selected for all of her work she did this year educating her legislators about the issues with 9-1-1 in Illinois, especially the financial and funding issues. Nita worked diligently with her representatives. Nita's work encouraged Senator Jason Barickman testified on behalf of the legislation that was sponsored for 9-1-1.
Nita also can be found working the dispatch console with her employees during a busy or stressful situation.
Over the last 9 years, Nita has ran a 9-1-1 Camp for Kids. This camp provides learning experiences for grade school children in different aspects of safety. They have done bicycle safety, agricultural safety, 9-1-1 safety and others.
Nita was recently appointed to the INENA/ILAPCO legislative committee. This appointment is made by presidents of the associations. Nita has always been involved on the legislative front in her own community. She has participated on the annual "9-1-1 Goes to Springfield", in which the 9-1-1 entities converge on Springfield and have appointments with their legislators to talk to them about the 9-1-1 issues.
"Nita is a true asset for Iroquois County. It takes professionalism and a hands-on, caring person to be involved and stay involved in keeping the public's safety in the fore-front," said Sandy Beitel, Illinois NENA President and Ogle County 9-1-1 Coordinator.
