New Hoopeston Learning Center set to open

Danville Area Community College has set a September 10th date to open the new higher learning center in Hoopeston.

A ribbon cutting and dedication ceremony will be held at the newly renovated Center Monday, September 9th at 11 a.m.

The building, donated to DACC by the Carle Hoopeston Regional Health Center, was previously used as that organization's business office and was the first of many donations by area residents and businesses to make this location a reality. During the ceremony, a donor wall will be unveiled listing organizations and individuals who have contributed at least $500 to the DACC Hoopeston initiative.

Classes beginning September 16 will include Basic Skills, Degree Credit, CNA, Adult Education and Community Education. DACC Hoopeston is located at 847 E. Orange Street. It contains five classrooms, including one computer lab, which allows up to five classes to be run concurrently. The DACC Admissions office has more contact info.

The site is intended to serve the higher education needs of the people of Hoopeston, Milford, Rossville, Rankin, Potomac, Wellington, Goodwine, and East Lynn, as well as communities in Western Indiana. Indiana residents within the specially designated seven collar counties of Vermillion, Parke, Fountain, Warren, Tippecanoe, Benton and Montgomery receive a reduced out-of-state tuition rate.
